Shamrock PTFE micropowders are precision engineered, fine white powders of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). These powders differ from other PTFE powders in their structure, and in their applications.

Shamrock PTFE micropowders are popular additives in many industrial materials (solid or liquid) that are improved with the addition of PTFE’s unique characteristics. With its extremely low coefficient of friction, PTFE micropowders can enhance the appearance and abrasion resistance, and reduce mechanical wear and surface contamination of many materials. By the precise manipulation of particle size and morphology, we provide our customers with a wide range of effective, formulation-friendly additives.

Shamrock PTFE micropowders are effective within operating temperatures from -190°C to 250°C.

Shamrock MicroPowders: microFLONShamrock’s polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) micropowders are engineered with specific custom characteristics which improve the performance of many industrial products and processes.

Shamrock microFLON® products represent the premium process-controlled micronized PTFE powders. In thermoplastics and elastomers, microFLON® facilitates lubrication and wear resistance. In grease and lubricants, microFLON® offers thickening even at high temperatures, and improves boundary lubrication, especially in extreme environments. Shamrock microFLON® can be utilized at temperatures from -190 to 300° C (-310 to 572° F). In thin film applications for inks and coatings, microFLON® improves slip as well as rub, mar, scratch and abrasion resistance.

microFLON® is engineered from prime grades of PTFE to allow a broader range of applications, including direct food contact. The tight process and particle size control typical of the microFLON® product line allows for easy and proper dispersion, and distribution of the product in the application.

Shamrock MicroPowders: nanoFLONThe nanoFLON® line of premium PTFE is nano-sized, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) powder exclusive to Shamrock. NanoFLON® makes it easier to add key fluoropolymer properties to your product, including slip, abrasion resistance and release. The ultra-fine powders are engineered using our own proprietary process that allows easy dispersion and primary particle sizes as small as 200 nanometers.

Shamrock’s nanoFLON® 119N is a white, free-flowing PTFE powder used to impart low surface energy and other attributes. For inks and coatings, NanoFLON® 119N allows for improved rub and slip performance for ultra thin coatings and films. In thermoplastics and elastomers it facilitates lubrication, stick slip and wear resistance. For lubricants, NanoFLON® improves performance by dispersing easily, lowering coefficient of friction, improving boundary lubrication, and providing overall lubrication in extreme environments. Shamrock’s NanoFLON 119N can be utilized at temperatures from -190C to 300C.

Using proprietary techniques, Shamrock’s NanoFLON® 119N offers controlled particle size distribution, chemical and physical properties, molecular weight, crystallinity and particle morphology which allows for easy deagglomeration to the sub-micron range (200-700 nanometers). By controlling such a broad range of properties, NanoFLON® can be easily introduced into any application to introduce slip, improve abrasion and add scratch and mar resistance.

NanoFLON® 119N powder is intentionally agglomerated to minimize dusting during handling and disperses readily with regular mixing. The agglomerates break down with a resulting average particle size ranging from 200-700 nanometers. This allows 100 times the surface area of other PTFE particles at equal weights (3micron vs. 0.3micron) for enhanced surface energy properties.

NanoFLON® 119N is easily dispersed. High intensity dispersion is recommended using a media mill or twin screw extruder.
