Shamrock Introduces Industry's
First Matting Agent In HDODA Monomer

DAYTON, N.J. (July 19, 2000) -- Shamrock Technologies has announced a breakthrough for UV applications with the introduction of UltraMatte™ UV 50-D, the industry's first matting agent predispersed in 1,6 Hexanedioldiacrylate (HDODA).

UltraMatte UV 50-D is an ultrafine 50% polyethylene/silica dispersion that can be used to provide slip and mar resistance in a wide range of UV-curable coatings, inks, adhesives and laminates. In addition, it provides excellent burnish resistance, typically associated with silica. UltraMatte UV 50-D features a low, five-micron average particle size that is especially efficient for thin film applications of 3/4 mil or less.

As a predispersed wax additive, UltraMatte UV 50-D may be added at any stage in the batch process - even post-added. It also may be used as an excellent online paste adjuster.

Unlike traditional silica additives, UltraMatte UV 50-D will not appreciably affect final viscosity. This is due to both its particle size distribution and unique low oil absorption characteristics. It also resists settling, eliminating potential problems with "packing."

UltraMatte UV 50-D matting agent is part of Shamrock's EverGlide™ family.

For more information on UltraMatte UV 50-D matting agent, please contact Shamrock's technical application specialists at (973) 242-2999, ext. 149 or by e-mail at marketing@shamrocktechnologies.com.
