Firsts
1940s
William Doyé Neuberg founds the William D. Neuberg Company, chemical brokerage firm, in New York City in 1941, which was is incorporated in 1945.
1950s
The Shamrock Chemicals Corporation is formed in 1951 as a subsidiary
of the William D. Neuberg Company selling powdered waxes.
1960s
William B. Neuberg, son of the founder, successfully introduces
micronized polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) powdered wax to the ink market.
1970s
Three subsidiaries of the William D. Neuberg Co. are merged, forming
a new entity under the name Shamrock Chemicals Corporation. William
D. Neuberg assumes the role of chairman, and William B. Neuberg is named
president of the new organization. Corporate headquarters are relocated
to Newark, New Jersey. Meanwhile, new applications for PTFE are discovered
in the coatings industry. With sales booming, the company extends its
reach with sales agents in Asia, Australia and Europe.
1980s
The Newark facility is expanded to accommodate increasing demand, and
Shamrock installs its first electron beam accelerator. Shamrock S.A.
is founded in Switzerland and a new sales agent is appointed in South
America. The company's name is changed to Shamrock Technologies, Inc.
in 1988.
1990s
William D. Neuberg dies in 1992 at age 97, leaving behind an inspiring
corporate legacy. With demand for its more than 250 products growing,
Shamrock acquires a second manufacturing facility in Henderson, Kentucky.
The company expands again, building an auxiliary plant in Henderson.
Chairman William B. Neuberg appoints a new management team, and corporate
headquarters are relocated to Dayton, New Jersey.
21st Century
Shamrock celebrated the grand opening of its European Headquarters in Tongeren, Belgium in 2001. Shamrock opens it’s plant in Tianjin, China in 2004 and a third plant in Henderson in 2007. Shamrock expands its headquarters in Newark to support new product development, with the introduction of a growing line of liquid dispersions, emulsions and unique submicron technologies.
